1. Ricky Ponting

Ricky Ponting, born on December 19, 1974, is an Australian former cricketer and captain of the Australian national cricket team. He is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. Ponting was born and raised in Wynyard, Tasmania, before moving to Hobart to pursue his cricket career. He captained Australia from 2004 to 2011 and led the team to numerous victories, including two consecutive Cricket World Cup triumphs in 2003 and 2007.

2. David Foster

David Foster, born on August 1, 1949, is a renowned Australian composer, record producer, and musician. He grew up in Wynyard, Tasmania, where he developed a passion for music. Foster has worked with numerous iconic musicians and artists throughout his career, receiving numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the music industry. He is known for producing hit songs for popular artists such as Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and many more.

3. Lauren Jackson

Lauren Jackson, born on May 11, 1981, is a former professional basketball player from Australia. She is considered one of the greatest female basketball players of all time. Jackson was born in Albury, New South Wales, but spent a significant part of her childhood in Wynyard, Tasmania. She represented the Australian national team, known as the Opals, in multiple Olympic Games and won three silver medals and one bronze medal. Jackson also had an illustrious career in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) in the United States.

Richard Flanagan, born on January 28, 1961, is an acclaimed Tasmanian novelist and film director. He was born and raised in Longford, Tasmania, which is in close proximity to Wynyard. Flanagan has received numerous literary awards, including the prestigious Man Booker Prize in 2014 for his novel "The Narrow Road to the Deep North." 5. Ian Stewart

Ian Stewart, born on April 4, 1966, is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was born and raised in Wynyard, Tasmania, where he began his football career before being recruited by St Kilda in 1986. Stewart had a successful career and is considered one of the club's greatest players.
